Pakistan Flood Relief Commons

In July 2010, heavy monsoon rains in various regions of Pakistan began to cause severe flooding. Estimates indicate the flooding has destroyed over one million homes and that over 20 million people are injured or homeless. Millions of dollars are being requested for emergency relief. However, what most people do not know is that the technology needed to help the people in Pakistan is in the open source and waiting to be used. After talking with aid agencies working in Pakistan, we have compiled a list of open source technologies which could best aid major needs. In this set is technology regarding Hybrid Seeds, Hydroelectric Power, Road Reconstruction, Shelter and Building Techniques, Solar Power, Malaria, Water Filtration, and Potable Water.
