 Many Reynosa residents lack clean water and safe, durable living conditions.  In abundance, there is plastic and water filled with chemicals.  Therefore, the challenge is to identify water purification technologies, and plastic recycling technologies which can turn the plastic into building materials.  Some technologies may be compatible and accomplish both at the same time.

Custom & Culture: 
Reynosa is on the Mexico and United States border. Due to the location, it is one of the largest border crossing points on the entire US/Mexico border. This creates commerce, but also conflict. There has been a recent increase in drug cartel violence. Also, flooding has been problematic in many areas. Water must be imported because groundwater is poisoned, there is a need for adequate shelter.

Crime and violence are high. Good groups and individuals are working on these issues. The situation has improved - a few months ago, the situation was extremely dangerous.

Use local abundance to construct an appropriate greenhouse that can weather the harsh climate and extend the tree growing season of in the South Gobi Desert.

Haloxylon ammodendron trees on farm, land near Dalanzadgad city and airport, water springs, well, glass, municipal waste from Dalanzadgad, coal fired electric plant within 10 kilometers. No electric on site but transport to site and roads are very good, easy for glass transportation.
Custom & Culture: 
Haloxylon ammodendron trees are popular in the Gobi Desert as they have large root systems and bring water from depths to the surface. Bark and needles are water rich and provide a food and water source for grazing animals and livestock.

Well-Being: 
Livestock have successfully lived in partnership with this tree for a very long time. Cultivation of the tree is a relatively recent phenomenon but provides the local economy and environment with many benefits. Trees reduce desertification, provide food/water for animals and humans, reduce erosion and provide employment in cultivation, sales and replantation.

Arkhangai Greenhouse

Use available glass resource and collaborate to find ways to improve an existing greenhouse and thus extend the growing period of the Hasu Shivert Resort in the Arkhangai province.

Resort has been traditionally Russian but has since been operated by Mongolians. Proprietor Munkhbat Hasu runs the facility and staff are trained in hospitality. Many agriculture workers work in the greenhouses, on grounds and near the property. Hasu is well known for his prized racing horses. Sporting facilities, swimming and hot tub facilities are all on grounds. Traditional Mongolian activities such as horse riding and archery are available.
